I have done some form of sport my whole life. Starting off in the dance world, covering off most disciplines of dance at some stage during my life, which eventually took me to the USA to perform at Disneyland – highlight of my dance life! Have also been a competitive swimmer here and there, including making a comeback to successfully compete at Masters Nationals. Most recently have turned my love of swimming and running into endurance events, including completing 3 full marathons (New York!!) and most recently completing my first half Ironman distance.

After hanging up the business suits, I chased my dream of working in the health and fitness industry. I’ve been a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for 7 years. Initially working in women’s health and weight loss in Adelaide. I fell in love with CrossFit almost 6 years ago before moving to Melbourne where I started as an athlete at Iron Bear. I’ve been a CrossFit coach for 3 years, and also work as a Remedial Massage Therapist.

I would have to say my biggest passion around CrossFit is coaching it. I love welcoming new members to the gym and guiding them through the start of their CrossFit life. I thrive in seeing our members push themselves to achieve their goals, and I love that we have such a diverse group of athletes in our gym. No matter who you are, or what your background is, Iron Bear is a place for everyone.

I started CrossFit approximately 6 years ago after watching the games on YouTube. I was getting bored of the same old mundane gym routines & liked the idea of mixing up weightlifting and cardio into one good solid session. The best part for me is that no workout is ever the same & once I started, I was hooked straight away!

I have always been interested in health & fitness & prior to starting CrossFit I was going to the gym 4-5 times a week and was also running and playing football. I have completed several half marathons and still enjoy mixing running into my CrossFit programming.

As a coach, I enjoy setting goals for athletes and ensuring that they get the most out of themselves. I feel that watching athletes push themselves to achieve these goals makes my job very rewarding. I also love the programming side of CrossFit as it allows me to create challenging and fun workouts.

No matter what your background is, if you are interested in finding yourself & achieving things you never thought possible, CrossFit Iron Bear is a great place to start!

First started CrossFit in 2012 in the living room of a mate’s unit, then progressed to his box in 2014.

I have been fortunate enough to have surrounded myself with a number of elite athletes and travelled all around the World visiting various CF communities and events – including the CrossFit Games several times.

My main goal in CrossFit it to test myself, and maintain a level of fitness that is sustainable for my ability and HAVE FUN! It’s not always about your score, but it is…

I have always had a passion for health and fitness. Growing up I did competitive gymnastics and started coaching gymnastics as a teenager. I continued to coach on and off whenever I could fit it in. I became busy as a registered nurse and mother to 4 kids.

When my youngest, Ari, turned 1, I was struggling to walk up a set of stairs without getting out of breath. I decided I needed to make myself a priority. I wanted to get fit and have some ‘me’ time.

I had seen a couple of friends on Facebook doing CrossFit and I just decided that’s what I’m going to do. I can’t imagine life without CrossFit now.

I love coaching because I love helping athletes young and old on their journey to find themselves. I find it so rewarding when an athlete nails a new skill and develops strength and confidence in themselves.

I started CrossFit in 2014 as a means to improve my physique. I was playing the role of Frankensteins creature in the Australian premiere of “Frankenstein” and was requested to look as strong as possible in 12 weeks. I had heard about CrossFit and decided that a coach based program would be better for keeping me on track than a normal gym regime.

6 years later I am no longer required to stay in shape but am still completely hooked on CrossFit. On top of CrossFit I have a huge interest in endurance events making me a human conundrum as I dislike running. I have completed over 50 obstacle races, 3 of them being over a marathon length and two being a 12 hour endurance events.

As a coach, I enjoy finding the small elements in each individuals movement or workout that can get them an extra 1%. Be it setting a new eye line or ensuring the pull on a row is complete, seeing the improvements no matter how small is what drives me. I also love ensuring that no matter how hard the workout is, everyone, myself included, walks out with a smile on the face.

General Bio: As an ex-National Level Swimmer, I have always been in love with training and pushing myself towards new goals. After starting CrossFit in 2013, I instantly fell in love with the programming and knew that this was something I wanted to be a part of long term. I enjoy working with athletes and take a pride in working on efficiency of movement at all levels.

I found CrossFit in 2014 and have never looked back. Competing both personally and in teams, the energy of the sport is amazing and I love working with all levels of athlete to maximise their potential, while having fun gaining new skills.

Recently, I have competed in the sport of Olympic Weight Lifting, with my current goal of making the World Masters Games excitingly within reach!
